It's HOT and it's SUMMER therefore; the cravings of cold, sweet and creamy are destined upon us.
We're currently OBSESSING over Van Leeuwen's ice cream. When we found out that VL had a truck in Soho, we obviously had to go binge. Rachel and are both (dairy intolerant) and Van Leeuwen's ice cream offers a variety of delectable gourmet flavors in both vegan and non-vegan on their menu.
Of course by the time we got there around 4 pm (a.k.a.- everyone in NYC already had ice cream that day), most of the vegan flavors were out of stock. We settled for BASIC dark chocolate and espresso; however, we soon realized after .5 bites in that basic is sometimes better.

I n d u l g i n g Guilt - Free!
The best part about this delicious treat is the lack of guilt for eating it. Unlike regular ice cream, dairy-free ice cream won't leave you feeling like you're about to go into hibernation for the rest of the day in a food comma or run 20-miles in order not to sacrifice your hard earned bikini bod. Not to mention that nut milk based ice cream such as coconut and almond tastes 10x better than normal ice cream. I'm not saying this is a food you should eat at every meal, but as far as desserts go this is nothing to feel bad about. BUT definitely do yourself a f(L)avor :) and stop by one of their locations to test out some ice cream flavors in order to understand why we're writing this much about ice cream...
